Job Description

  • Oversee the technical management and operational readiness of assigned vessels, ensuring optimal asset performance and reliability.
  • Manage dry-docking, major repairs, retrofit projects and vessel upgrades while maintaining budgetary and schedule targets.
  • Monitor vessel operating costs, maintenance expenditure and technical performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with classification society requirements, statutory regulations and international maritime standards.
  • Partner with vessel crews and shore-based stakeholders to resolve technical issues and minimise operational disruptions.
  • Support fleet modernisation initiatives, including alternative fuel adoption, energy-efficiency programmes and new technology implementation.
  • Provide leadership during incidents, emergency situations and critical maintenance events while coordinating communications with internal and external stakeholders.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
  • Certificate of Competency (Class 1) and/or relevant seagoing engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing technical operations within container shipping, ship management or marine engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance, dry-docking, repair management and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage technical budgets, capital projects and operational expenditure.
  • Familiarity with classification society requirements and maritime regulatory frameworks.
  • Exposure to LNG, methanol or other alternative-fuel vessel technologies is highly relevant.
  • Strong stakeholder management, planning and problem-solving capabilities.
