VP, Compliance (Energy Trading)

This is a critical compliance role managing a team and the successful candidate's primary focus will be to advise business on Sanctions matters and be well versed in Trade Finance. The role covers the entire compliance spectrum including Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Data Privacy and Protection and Know Your Customer.

Our client is a leader in the energy sector with a presence across the spectrum and use their expertise to distribute energy around the world. They source from producers, refiners and intermediaries and deliver to refineries, utilities and retail distribution networks as well as wholesalers and other traders.

Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the VP, Compliance will be involved in the following :-

  • Conduct vessel screenings, counterparty evaluations, and transaction reviews to ensure compliance with international sanctions frameworks.
  • Collaborate with traders, shipping operations, and legal teams to prevent sanctions breaches during high-value trades involving cargo routes, charters, and supply contracts.
  • Conduct in-depth risk assessments for trading partners and counterparties in high-risk jurisdictions to detect potential bribery or corruption concerns.
  • Collaborate with KYC team to resolve escalated onboarding cases involving high-risk counterparties in energy trading markets.

The Successful Applicant

To qualify, the potential VP, Compliance should meet the following criteria :-

  • At least 10 years of compliance experience with strong knowledge in Sanctions from the energy trading industry.
  • Strong knowledge in Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Data Privacy and Protection, Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer programmes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder collaboration skills.
