Job Description

  • Strengthen relationships with current customers, ensuring consistent satisfaction with products and services.
  • Identify opportunities for improving or expanding product offerings within existing accounts.
  • Actively prospect for new customers by identifying market needs, analyzing customer requirements, and introducing alternative or innovative chemical products.
  • Leverage customer feedback to drive product development and offer suitable alternatives based on market demand.
  • Collaborate with both customers and suppliers to evaluate products and provide feedback.
  • Communicate customer needs and feedback to suppliers, offering data and insights that could lead to product enhancements or new grade introductions.
  • Introduce alternative product grades based on feedback from customers and supplier suggestions.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver accurate pricing and product quotations to potential and existing customers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure alignment with customer expectations and company margins.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely delivery and fulfillment.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers from various countries, utilizing the company's global subsidiary network to find cost-effective and high-quality products.
  • Expand supplier base beyond the main headquarters (e.g., Japan), focusing on alternative suppliers for competitive advantage.
  • Take proactive measures to improve customer satisfaction by addressing concerns promptly and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Regularly communicate with customers to identify pain points and ensure resolution.
  • Submit regular sales activity reports to the Assistant Sales Manager, detailing accomplishments, challenges, and customer updates.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and sales metrics to monitor progress.
  • Gather and submit data required for budget meetings held in June and December, supporting financial planning and forecasting.
  • Provide insights into sales trends, product demand, and potential opportunities or risks.
  • Handle any other duties or special projects assigned by senior management, contributing to the overall efficiency and growth of the sales department.

The Successful Applicant

  • At least a 5 years of experience in sales, with a focus on the chemical industry or a closely related field (e.g., manufacturing, materials science etc).
  • Experience in B2B sales is often highly valued.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Highly motivated and proactive approach to potential business and establish good relationship with customers and suppliers.
