Job Description

  • Plan, execute, and deliver assigned project programmes within agreed timelines, budgets, and performance targets, in line with corporate standards and client requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients to support effective project delivery, performance tracking, and change management, including coordination with external stakeholders when required.
  • Lead and manage project teams, including external consultants and contractors, ensuring sufficient and competent resources are in place at all stages of delivery.
  • Deliver programme outcomes and financial margins in accordance with targets agreed with the Principal Project Manager.
  • Define and implement appropriate strategies for the execution and delivery of the project scope.
  • Identify key opportunities within the programme and promote the adoption of best practices across project teams.
  • Oversee planning activities to ensure alignment across programmes and compliance with contractual commitments.
  • Conduct accident investigations when assigned by authorised personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and delivery performance.
  • Motivate, lead, and inspire teams to remain fully engaged in achieving business and project objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies related to resourcing, communication, training, competency assessment, and staff fitness for duty.
  • Take full responsibility for meeting safety, schedule, quality, and technical specifications across assigned projects.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum of 10 years' engineering experience, supported by a recognised degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Railway Engineering, or Tier 2 Professional Project Manager accreditation from SPM.
  • At least 8 years' experience leading design and construction teams on railway projects of comparable size and complexity.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and motivate project staff effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale programmes within the rail industry.
  • Strong commercial awareness with effective negotiation skills.
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies, systems, and controls.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Competency in Construction Design Management
  • Hands-on experience in project safety management and accident investigation.
