About Our Client

Our client is seeking for an experienced Packaging Lead/ Supervisor to lead the creation and management of a new packaging function in their pharmaceutical organization.

Job Description

  • Build and implement the packaging department, including defining workflows, selecting equipment, and recruiting and training team members to support pharmaceutical packaging operations.
  • Lead the design, testing, and validation of packaging for finished pharmaceutical products, ensuring compliance with stability, safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that all packaging materials, processes, and designs comply with pharmaceutical regulations (e.g. FDA, EMA), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.
  • Develop and lead sustainability initiatives in packaging design and material selection, focusing on reducing environmental impact while maintaining product integrity and compliance.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage packaging suppliers, ensuring the quality of materials and services aligns with pharmaceutical standards and cost objectives.
  • Set up and lead the packaging team, providing direction, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to foster a high-performing team.
  • Work closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs and Supply Chain teams to align packaging development with product life cycles and ensure seamless launches.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize packaging processes, improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining the highest compliance and safety standards.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks related to packaging for high-sensitivity products.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Engineering or a related field
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in packaging management, particularly in pharmaceuticals or life sciences with a strong focus on packaging.
  • Familiarity with bottle filling experience/ packaging finished products including sterile and temperature-sensitive packaging solutions.
  • Proven track record in setting up or transforming packaging operations, including building and developing high-performance teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical packaging regulations, including GMP, FDA and other relevant industry standards.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of building and leading a team, driving performance and fostering a collaborative work culture.
  • Extensive experience with pharmaceutical packaging materials, processes, and technologies, including primary and secondary packaging.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with experience in resolving packaging issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to convey technical concepts to cross-functional teams and leadership.
