About Our Client

Our client is a leading organisation within the Energy & Natural Resources industry, with a strong presence in Singapore. They are involved in all aspects of the Energy business, from exploration and production to refining and distribution. They have established footprints in 20+ countries, including three major energy trading and operation hubs in Houston, London and Singapore.

Job Description

· Be the legal champion for our trading businesses: Provide legal advice and support to our trading businesses, ensuring they operate compliantly and mitigate risks.

· Ensure legal compliance: Stay up-to-date on laws and regulations that affect the business and implement strategies to ensure compliance.

· Draft, review and negotiate contracts: Prepare legal documents like contracts, review them for accuracy and completeness, and negotiate terms favorable to the company.

· Resolve disputes: Represent the company in negotiations to resolve disputes related to trading activities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Counsel should have:

  • A recognised degree in Law or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience, with litigation background would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with trading & shipping law will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving abilities in complex legal matters.
