About Our Client

Our client is a privately held, profitable Data Center firm. They provide customers with sustainable datacentres that benefit digital transformation and customer experience. As a profitable, high-growth firm, they are looking to expand the number of countries they operate in and strengthen their partner network. Last year, their topline grew more than 3x and most of the business is driven via partners and alliances. In the next three years, they plan to launch new markets, channels and build a robust strategy & operations function, reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer.

Job Description

As the Director of Strategy & Operations, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and operational excellence of our datacentre client. You will lead initiatives to optimize operations, enhance efficiency, and capitalize on growth opportunities in alignment with overarching business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans to drive business growth via thorough market analysis, competitive research, and industry trends assessment.
  • Collaborate with CEO, CRO and Country MDs to define long-term goals and translate them into actionable strategies.
  1. Operational Excellence:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor operational performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic initiatives and ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and margin enhancement through data-driven analysis and strategic decision-making.
  1. Stakeholder Management:
  • One of the unique requirements of this role is to participate in exit planning, via IPO or secondary sale and work alongside the CRO to pitch to current and future investors.
  • On occasion, you will represent the CRO in meetings internally and externally.
  1. Resource planning & allocation:
  • This is an individual contributor role at the onset but will provide guidance, and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will drive the agenda set by the CFO, CRO and CEO across the existing and new launch markets.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience, five or more years in a strategy role in the datacentre or telecommunications infrastructure space. Candidates coming from consulting firms, must have strong experience in the TMT sector ideally with a couple of years of advising datacentre or hyperscale clients.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of having partner senior stakeholders on GTM, fund raising, market launch and turnaround cases.
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking mindset and a passion for innovation and technology.
  • No obstacle for travelling up to 50% and doing short term relocation in Asia.

Our client offers you an opportunity to be in a privately held, profitable firm that is growing 3-5x year-on-year. They operate with a lean team and they plan to launch new markets and sales channels. This role would be a great fit if you want to be in a highly visible and challenging role that allows you to launch new markets and partner CRO, CFO and CEO.

The cash compensation would be in the 75th percentile of the market for such roles. Upside would come in the form of equity and/or bonuses linked to firm and individual performance. Candidates looking for team management roles won't find this a good fit.
