Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, administer, and support PostgreSQL and Sybase databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across Asia and EMEA.


  • Serve as the L2 technical escalation point, handling incidents, problems, changes, and supporting production operations.
  • Architect, monitor, and optimize database infrastructure, including HA/DR setups, performance tuning, backups, and recovery strategies.
  • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (Shell/Python) and implement best practices for database maintenance and security.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, QA, and project teams on schema design, CI/CD pipelines, migrations, and application releases.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Work aligned with Asia and EMEA (Paris) time zones, including shift rotations for critical incidents or on-call support.

The Successful Applicant

A successful candidate should have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent technical field
  • At least 6-8 years of hands-on PostgreSQL/Sybase DBA experience in administration, management, and production operations
  • Strong knowledge of IT security, database security policies, and risk-based approaches
  • Experience in large enterprise environments, preferably in financial organizations, with ITIL process familiarity
  • Skilled in configuring, deploying, upgrading, and maintaining PostgreSQL/Sybase databases, including HA/DR setups
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and designing database solutions aligned with business requirements
  • Scripting experience in Python, T-SQL, or Shell is desirable; certifications in PostgreSQL/Sybase or cloud technologies are a plus
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, time management, and teamwork skills, with ability to work independently
