- Newly created headcount within a fast growing startup
- Drive compliance and regulatory advisory on regional basis
About Our Client
Our client is a B2B trade-tech startup, providing import/export trade platform focused on setting up a unique ecosystem for the food trade industry. Backed by a regional Tier 1 investment firm, our client is growing their team as operations continue to successfully expand into further regional markets. They are looking to hire a compliance specialist who will help establish a comprehensive compliance framework around policy, procedures, and documentation to ensure our client's import/export operations run without regulatory issues across Southeast Asia and China.
This role will sit in Singapore at our client's regional headquarters. Reporting into the CEO and dotted line into the group head of risk and compliance, this role will be the key pillar in establishing a comprehensive compliance framework around policy, procedures, documentation, and consultant partner network (when need be) to ensure our client's import/export operations run smoothly and without regulatory issues regionally (the markets covered will include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and China). In addition this role will help develop systems and processes to track any and all relevant regulatory changes to ensure risk is at minimal levels at all times. As the platform focused on food trade as the primary product line for now (with future capacity to expand to further tradeable products), regulation will also involve food safety and regulatory requirements of food ingredients.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will come with 6 or more years of experience within the regulatory compliance space, owning strong experience in cross-border, import/export, and/or payments services. Due to the nature of the product on our client's tech platform, understanding and knowledge of ecommerce/foods/online marketplace ecosystems will be a great to have. As this is a lean team and still operating on a flexible and fluid start-up style strategy, prior experience of working within a similar lean set-up will be advantageous to hit the ground running with minimal friction of start-up workstyle.
What's on Offer
Our client is going full force into continuing their regional expansion of food import/export product through their trade-tech platform. As such, this role will offer you a challenging, rewarding opportunity to join at a critical moment in our client's lifecycle, to be a key thought and execution leader in helping set up and enact compliance and regulatory advisory processes, working directly with the leadership team to ensure long-term sustainability of their product success.
