Our client is a leading manufacturer of valves that are used across 300k configurations and range of industries covering mining, pulp & paper, food & beverage, and chemical plants. This is a family owned, privately held business that's been in the market for more than fifty years. The Business Development Manager, APAC will drive new and existing customer & distributor relationships in the region.

Job Description

The Business Development Manager, APAC is responsible for driving direct and channel/distributor sales of valves into demanding industries such as mining and chemical processing. Given the lean team, the role will be responsible for strategy, implementation, and business development in APAC.

Reporting to the CEO, APAC, this role is responsible for:

  • Leading sales in APAC by bringing new OEM relationships to the group
  • Managing existing distributor and direct relationships
  • Building a strategic growth plan for the business
  • Target regional engineering companies to enlisted on their approved vendor lists
  • Partner with APAC CEO on setting clear goals for country sales representatives
  • Having a strong understanding of competitors in the industry and identify potential market expansion
  • Lead after sales (MRO) in delivered mining projects in the region
  • Own the regional business plan covering inventory and production
  • Quarterly reporting to the Group CEO on market risks, opportunities, and forecasting

The Successful Applicant

  • Masters' Degree in mechanical, industrial or a related technical discipline
  • Five or more years or more in selling valves to the heavy industries, with at least three years in a SEA or APAC role
  • Strong distributor relationships in the region
  • Experience in driving consistent double digital growth for a valves business and strong knowledge of CRM usage
  • The role requires frequent overseas travel in Asia and Europe - we estimate 60-75% travel in year one

The remuneration for this role and benefits, bonuses will be in line with the market and linked to the growth projections for the business from 2022 to 2025. This is a hands-on sales role, so we are not looking for candidates who are seeking team management roles.
