Our client, a key agency in an Australian state government, Investment NSW is where the best of industry, innovation, trade and tourism and major events meet to grow investment and jobs. Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner ASEAN based in Singapore, the Associate Director, Trade will:

  • Identify opportunities within food, beverage and agribusiness sectors to build a pipeline of trade & investment leads
  • Identify, develop and manage CXO relationships in private and public sector accounts to achieve commercial outcomes for clients
  • Provide strategic advice to Australian businesses on how to do business in the Singaporean market to help them achieve export sales.
  • Facilitate commercial engagement between Australian businesses and Singapore customers
  • Monitor key sector trends and significant commercial developments in the market and provide insights and advice
  • Represent the NSW Government and Australian businesses at meetings and negotiations with potential trade partners
  • Plan and implement activities such as trade exhibitions, in-bound buyer missions, market visits, etc
  • Lead market research and business development activities across the food, beverage and agribusiness sectors to increase exports from Australia to Singapore
  • Contribute to strategy and program development for export promotion
  • Build and maintain a network of buyers, importers, distributors, and potential customers in Singapore

The Associate Director, Trade will need a strong commercial acumen and track record in a revenue generating role. Critical to the role will be representing and promoting the client's trade and investment interests to buyers, importers, distributors, potential customers, public and private stakeholders. It will be important to have an established supply chain network. This position is available for 3 years on a fixed term contract, with an option for renewal based on individual's performance.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelors or Masters' degree in business, Marketing, Economics, or a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, with a strong preference for experience in trade & investment related work
  • Previous experience in attracting investment and facilitating international expansion in F&B and agribusiness sectors would be ideal
  • A practical knowledge of and experience in identifying, developing and managing key CXO contacts across food & beverage and agribusiness accounts in Australia and Singapore
  • Manage and grow an exporter portfolio, providing customized services for Australian businesses to enter Singapore / ASEAN
  • Passion for a role that combines the key elements across trade, investment, and relationship management
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills as the role involves regular contact with senior stakeholders across public and private sectors
  • Knowledge of latest social media trends and platforms, to engage the right audience and build relationships

Candidates who have worked as part of high commissions, trade and investment promotion organizations and have an affinity towards the Australian markets would find this a strong fit. Remuneration would be competitive, but this is not a commission-based sales role.
